What no one might tell you is that paying any Turkish traffic fine within 15 days earns a 25% discount. Turkish car rental companies generally prohibit cross-border travel due to insurance and customs regulations. This means rental cars are not permitted to be taken into neighbouring countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, or Cyprus. Cross bordering in a rented car without authorization from supplier can invalidate your insurance and result in heavy penalties. For crossing international borders, the best option would be to switch to regional transportation such as buses, trains, or flights.
